Vol. 447 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Support for Hepatitis C Sufferers.

Nora Owen

Question:

116 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of his recent meeting in Cork with representatives of a group, Positive Action; and the additional resources he proposes to make available to this group and the 1,000 or more women affected by the Anti D treatment. [3545/94]

I met with a delegation from Positive Action in Cork on 9 November 1994 and a useful exchange of information took place concerning the hepatitis CAnti D issue at this meeting. I assured the delegation that the needs of those who have been diagnosed as positive for hepatitis C under the national blood screening programme will be monitored and reassessed on an ongoing basis to ensure that the necessary support services are provided to meet their needs. The services already in place under this programme will be available for as long as they are required and any resources required to provide these services will be met by the Exchequer.
