Vol. 447 No. 10

Presentation of Estimates: Motion.

I move:

That, notwithstanding the provision in Standing Order 126 of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business that the ordinary yearly Estimates for Public Services shall be presented to the Dáil and circulated to Members not later than the thirtieth day of the financial year, the Estimates in question for the year ending 31 December, 1995, may be presented to the Dáil and circulated to Members not later than 28 February, 1995.

Will its effect be to postpone the budget until March?

No, the Estimates are normally published in draft form by mid-January and this will allow them to be published at the end of January.

That is a long time, the Government will not last that long.

Question put and agreed to.
