Question:175 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Education her current timetable for the publication of the White Paper on Education and for the drafting of an Education Bill; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1386/95]
Written Answers. - Publication of White Paper.
I am currently finalising proposals for incorporation in the White Paper and, subject to Government approval of the proposals, I will publish the White Paper in the near future, in accordance with the commitment in the Government's policy programme, A Government of Renewal. The White Paper will set out a coherent framework within which educational development and policy-making will take place into the next century. The White Paper will be followed by the bringing forward of appropriate legislation.
