Vol. 447 No. 11

Written Answers. - Report of Working Party on Security of Tenure.

Tony Gregory

Question:

209 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice when the report of the Working Party on Security of Tenure will be ready; and if it will be published. [1114/95]

My predecessor established a Working Group to examine and report on the provision of security of tenure in the private rented sector with particular reference to any changes which may be desirable to the provisions of the Landlord and Tenant (Amendment) Act, 1980.

I am anxious that the work of the group should continue and, while I am not yet in a position to say when the report will be completed. I will take any steps which may be open to me to augment the working of the group so that its report will be completed as expeditiously as possible. While a formal decision on the publication of the report must await its presentation to me I do not envisage any difficulty in that regard.
