Vol. 447 No. 11

Written Answers. - Closure of Courthouse.

Michael Ahern

Question:

220 Mr. M. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the arrangements, if any, she has made for the closure of the courthouses in Youghal and Midleton, County Cork; and if she will make a statement regarding the future of these courthouses. [1483/95]

I have no proposals for the closure of the courthouses at Youghal or Midleton. Both of these venues have sittings of the District Court and Circuit Court.

A committee was established last year under the chairmanship of the President of the Circuit Court in order to determine the optimum size, number of circuits and venues to ensure that the courts system gives the best possible service to the public. The report of the committee has not yet been finalised.
