Vol. 447 No. 11

Written Answers. - Milk Boards' Pensions.

Derek McDowell

Question:

244 Mr. D. McDowell asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the steps, if any, which have been taken to give effect to the agreement reached between the Department of Agriculture and representatives of employees and former employees of the Milk Boards, now abolished, to provide for pensions for survivors and dependant children of such employees and former employees. [1547/95]

The Milk (Regulation of Supply) Act, 1994 made provision for certain changes to be made to the pension schemes of the members and former members of the former milk boards following the agreement reached between the Departments of Agriculture, Food and Forestry and Finance and representatives of the milk boards' staff. In line with the terms of the Act, arrangements are now being made for the takeover by the Exchequer of all the assets and liabilities of the existing pension schemes and for the establishment of spouses' and children's pension benefit for members and former members of those schemes.
