Question:

245 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the names of all unestablished civil servants appointed since 15 December 1994, including programme managers, special advisers and other staff; and the salaries, duties and terms of appointment of these appointees. [1465/95]

Since 15 December, 1994, the following unestablished civil servants have been appointed in my Department:

Personal Secretary to Minister

Ms Marian Dennehy

Personal Assistant to the Minister of State at my Department, Jimmy Deenihan TD

£238.48 per week plus 10% allowance

Administrative and Clerical duties appropriate to the positions.

Mr. Michael Miley

Programme Manager

£42,894 per annum

To assist the Minister in managing and co-ordinating the achievement of the Government's objectives in the Programme for Government.

Jeremiah Brick

Civilian Driver

£247.74 per week

Civilian drivers to Minister of State at my Department.

Eamonn Sweeney

Civilian Driver

£247.74 per week

The terms of appointments are as follows: The positions are temporary unestablished positions covered by Excluding Orders made under the provisions of section 5 of the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956.
The appointments are subject to the terms of a Contract of Employment which has been drawn up by the Department of Finance. The appointments terminate not later than the date on which the present Minister or Minister of State ceases to hold office.
In addition to the appointments already made, I propose to appoint Mr. Thomas Tynan as my Special Adviser at a salary of £42,894 per annum.
