Vol. 447 No. 11

Written Answers. - Sale of Sheep Quota.

Michael Creed

Question:

257 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the category of farmers who are exempt from the claw-back on the sale of sheep quota; and if he will give details of this exemption. [1266/95]

The EU Regulations provide that where a producer sells or otherwise transfers his holding, he may transfer all his premium rights to the person who takes over his holding.

The regulations also provide that a producer may transfer, in whole or in part, his rights to other producers, without transferring his holding. In the case of a transfer without transfer of the holding, a part of the premium rights transferred, not exceeding 15 per cent, must be surrendered without compensation to the National Reserve for free distribution to new entrants or other priority producers.
