Vol. 447 No. 11

Written Answers. - Cataract Operation Delay.

Jim Higgins

Question:

93 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay in calling a person (details supplied) in County Mayo for a cataract operation. [1189/95]

Limerick East): The patient concerned was seen at University College Hospital's Out-Patient Department in June 1994 and is due to return for review in March 1995.

The Deputy will appreciate that the scheduling of out-patient appointments is a matter for the consultant concerned and urgent cases are always given priority. Should the patient concerned feel that his condition has deteriorated he should return to his general practitioner who is in the best position to emphasise the urgency of his case directly to the consultant.
