Vol. 448 No. 6

Written Answers. - Care of the Aged.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

119 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm that funding promised to Waterford Care of the Aged Society will be made available to them when their present planning difficulties are sorted out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2739/95]

I assume that the question refers to the grant approved to Waterford Corporation for the provision of housing accommodation under the capital assistance scheme by Waterford Care of the Aged Society at 16-17 Lady Lane, Waterford. My Department's involvement in this scheme relates primarily to the provision of funds, within the allocation available in the Public Capital Programme, for individual projects.

The detailed administration of the scheme, including certification that particular projects comply with the terms of the scheme, is the responsibility of the local authority, in this instance Waterford Corporation. The approved grant will be paid, when claimed, by the corporation and when they have certified that the conditions of the scheme have been met in the case of this particular project.
