The policy agreement of the Government of Renewal contains a commitment to “prepare a youth service Act to provide a statutory basis for developing youth work in Ireland”. I envisage that this will be done in the context of the legislative programme which will follow the publication of the White Paper.
The timing for the introduction of legislation decided in this area will of course be a matter for Government and I am not in a position to be specific about when it will be introduced.
