Vol. 448 No. 6

Written Answers. - Green Paper on Broadcasting.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

97 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the plans, if any, he has for the consultative process following the publication of the Green Paper on Broadcasting; if he will ensure a wide-ranging process to involve people at local community level; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2759/95]

The Green Paper on broadcasting will of itself provide the opportunity for the widest possible informed public discussion of all broadcasting issues that will fall to be reviewed before developing new legislative proposals. I am already aware of the strong public interest at all levels of the community in these issues and I expect that the Green Paper will generate a considerable response without any prompting from me.

It is my intention that the consultation process will be of sufficient duration to be both extensive and inclusive.
