Vol. 449 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ballymote (Sligo) Water Supply.

Edward Nealon

Question:

111 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the unsatisfactory quality of the public water supply in Ballymote, County Sligo in view of the fact that this has been the subject of much criticism and protest at meetings of Sligo County Council and in respect of which funding has been sought from his Department for the necessary extension of the Lough Talt water supply scheme to serve Ballymote and alleviate the problem in accordance with a scheme submitted for approval on the 5 November 1992; and if he will make immediate funding available. [3265/95]

A preliminary report for this scheme is under consideration in my Department. Pending completion of the assessment of overall local authority requirements in the context of available grant resources for 1955, I cannot indicate when it will be possible to approve the proposal.
