Vol. 449 No. 1

Written Answers. - Johnstown (Kildare) Vocational School.

Liam Aylward

Question:

130 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to demolish the old Johnstown Vocational School, County Kilkenny, which stands adjacent to the new school currently being built; if this school, which is currently under consideration in the Department, will house a library, staff room and toilets; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3119/95]

The question as to whether the old school building at Johnstown vocational school will be demolished is currently under consideration by the planning and building unit of my Department.

There are two alternatives in relation to this building — its demolition and replacement or complete refurbishment. A report on the matter from County Kilkenny vocational education committee was received last week in the Department and is currently under consideration.A decision on the matter will be conveyed to the vocational education committee shortly.

Whichever option is approved the accommodation will include a library, staff room and toilet facilities.
