Vol. 449 No. 1

Written Answers. - Requests for Meetings.

Seán Haughey

Question:

142 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education if she has received a request for a meeting with the Federation of Christian Brothers and other Catholic schools parents councils; and if she will set a date for such a meeting. [3229/95]

I have committed myself to a large number of meetings with a multiplicity of organisations for 1995. When possible I try to arrange to meet national groups. In the case of second level parents' organisations, the appropriate national group is the National Parents Council, Post-Primary. This council comprises nominees from eight parent organisations, namely: Congress of Catholic Secondary School Parents' Association, Federation of Christian Brothers and Other Catholic Schools Parents' Councils, Parents' Association of Vocational Schools and Community Colleges, National Protestant Secondary School Parents' Association, Gael-scoileanna, Special Education, Scoileanna Gaeltachta, Parents' Association of Community and Comprehensive Schools.

I met a delegation from the National Parents Council Post-Primary on 20 January 1995 last. I look forward to regular contact with this body, including attending its annual conference. The Federation of Christian Brothers and Other Catholic Schools Parents' Councils may channel their issues of concern through the National Prices Commission (PP)
