Vol. 449 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cottage Industries.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

197 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of successful businesses that have been created since the formation of the county enterprise boards; and the number of full-time positions that have been created in these companies. [3257/95]

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

199 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, in view of the heritage importance of all villages and the importance of protecting a viable living for the inhabitants, the progress the county enterprise boards have made to date in establishing cottage industries in or around these villages; and the average employment content in each case where such industries have been established. [3259/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 197 and 199 together.

County enterprise boards were established to provide assistance to small enterprise projects in the manufacturing or services sectors with employment potential of up to ten people, and with investment costs which do not exceed £100,000. The projects assisted are not designated as cottage industries. Details of the number of projects approved for assistance by each board, the employment potential and jobs actually created are set out in a tabular statement which I propose to have circulated in the Official Report.
