Vol. 449 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Land-Milk Quota.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

208 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the percentage land mass of this country presently classified as disadvantaged; the total milk quota in each of the Connacht counties in each of the years 1989 to 1994; and the total milk quota nationally available outside this province.[3095/95]

The percentage land mass of this country at present classified as disadvantaged is 73 per cent. A breakdown of milk quota on a provincial or county basis is not available in my Department. The total amount of milk quota in disadvantaged areas is estimated at 350 million gallons or 30 per cent of the overall national quota.
