Vol. 449 No. 1

Written Answers. - VAT Refund.

Michael Finucane

Question:

56 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Finance when a VAT refund will be paid to a company (details supplied) in County Limerick as agreed with the appeals commissioner in view of the fact that the amounts are outstanding since September/October 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3081/95]

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that VAT repayments for the periods September-October 1991 and May-June 1992 in the amounts of £192 and £448.35 respectively were made to the company on 28 June 1993.

A later claim for the year 1993 amounting to £387 submitted by the company on 27 October 1994 had been under appeal, but the company requested the Inspector of Taxes by letter of 2 February 1995 to remove the case from the Appeal Commissioner's Hearing due on 7 February 1995 so that it might consider its position further.

The inspector has been in direct contact with the company to bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion.
If there is a question that the company did not receive the Revenue cheques in respect of the periods September-October 1991 and May-June 1992 as outlined above, then contact should be made directly with the Collector-General's Office at Apollo House, Dublin 2, telephone 01-6716998.
