Vol. 449 No. 2

Written Answers. - Artists' Interests.

Síle de Valera

Question:

13 Miss de Valera asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the manner in which artists and artists' concerns have been accommodated on county enterprise boards throughout the country. [2117/95]

The composition of county enterprise boards represents a partnership between elected representatives, State agency personnel, the social partners at local level and local business and voluntary sector interests. I should point out that the enterprise plans to be prepared by the county enterprise boards for their areas are intended to provide a clear statement of the priority enterprise goals and sectoral objectives relevant to the local economy. Already a number of boards have acknowledged the significance of the development of quality crafts and design skills, and of vibrant cultural and art enterprises in their areas. These enterprise plans have identified specific measures to develop both sectors.
