Vol. 449 No. 2

Written Answers. - CIE Pension Scheme.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

85 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications when he will respond to the 1993 recommendations on improvements to the CIE pension scheme. [3499/95]

CIE submitted proposals to improve terms and restructure a number of pension schemes in late 1993. Following detailed examinations, discussion and evaluation, involving officials of my own Department and the Department of Finance (whose agreement to any amendments is necessary) agreement was reached on a proposed set of amendments and these were conveyed to CIE in November 1994. I understand that the revised terms of the wages grade schemes have been finalised and that draft amending schemes are currently being prepared for my approval. Discussions in relation to the salaried grade schemes are continuing and, once finalised, I expect to be able to approve them without delay.
