Vol. 450 No. 1

Written Answers. - Irish Steel.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

81 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if potential share purchasers in Irish Steel will have the benefit of a Government subsidy of £50 million pending EU approval. [4770/95]

As I indicated in my announcement of the recent Government decision in respect of Irish Steel, any purchaser of shares in Irish Steel will be expected to contribute to the company's investment programme. The extent of this contribution will depend on the outcome of negotiations and could reduce the level of aid to be paid by the State.
