Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - Delay in Test Results.

Michael Ring

Question:

69 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health if he will expedite the test results of a person (details supplied) in County Mayo which were forwarded to Castlebar laboratory four weeks ago in view of the fact that this person is suffering from cancer and the hold-up in the results is delaying treatment. [4965/95]

Limerick East): Due to the recent illness of the pathologist in Mayo General Hospital, the test samples of the person in question were referred to the laboratory in University College Hospital, Galway for examination. The results of these tests have now been forwarded to the patient's consultant in Mayo General Hospital, and I understand from the Western Health Board that the patient is scheduled to attend the out-patient's department of the hospital today.
