Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - Home School Liaison Teacher.

Willie O'Dea

Question:

98 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for Education if she has received a request for a home school liason teacher on a shared basis between four primary schools (details supplied) in County Limerick and County Tipperary; and, if so, if she will accede to this request. [4833/95]

I am aware that the four primary schools in question have applied for the appointment of a home school community liaison co-ordinator on a shared basis.

As I recently indicated, I propose to allocate an additional 30 posts to the home school community liaison scheme at primary level for the coming school year. This will bring the total number of co-ordinators serving this scheme to 105. However, I should point out that the primary target areas for these posts will be schools which are already included in the disadvantaged areas scheme.
