133 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry in relation to the strategy for the development of the forestry sector to the year 2015, when consultants were appointed to assist with this study; the cost of the consultancy services; and when the study will be completed. Consultants were appointed in May 1994, to assist my Department in the drawing up of a strategic plan for the development of the forestry sector to the year 2015. The total cost of the consultancy will be approximately £225,000 (including VAT).
The consultancy assignment is almost complete and I expect to receive the final report shortly. With the benefit of this input I will as soon as possible be bringing a draft strategic plan for the forestry sector to the Government, and I expect to be in a position to publish the plan by the summer.
