Vol. 450 No. 6

Written Answers. - Private Investigators.

Ivor Callely

Question:

133 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to public concern at the activities of private investigators; the number of private investigators operating in Ireland; the measures, if any she will introduce in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5509/95]

I am aware of concern expressed from time to time about private investigators but I cannot say that such concern is widespread. If the Deputy is aware of any particular matters involving private investigators which are sources of concern, they should be brought to the attention of the Garda so that they can be investigated.

I am not aware of how many persons offer services of a private investigative nature.
