Vol. 450 No. 6

Written Answers. - Rathdown Action Programme Funding.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

159 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will favourably consider the application by the Rathdown action programme (details supplied) for funding under the NOW project in view of the current exclusion of many unemployed people from enterprise assistance and training schemes such as FÁS because of the income of their spouses; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5411/95]

My Department has been involved in a national information campaign to publicise two European Union Human Resurces Initiatives. ADAPT and EMPLOYMENT (comprising Horizon, NOW and Youthstart). Application forms and other relevant information has at this stage been circulated to approximately 2,500 people.

All project promoters seeking to be included under EMPLOYMENT-NOW must have their initial applications on the prescribed application form with my Department by the end of this month. The initial selection of projects will be undertaken by an expert group and project promoters will be informed of the outcome of their initial applications by 30 June 1995.
