Vol. 450 No. 6

Written Answers. - Milk Quotas.

Michael Creed

Question:

176 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the provisions, if any, available in his Department for the issuing of milk quotas to persons involved in milk production in the late 1970s who then ceased production but did not avail of any of the EC schemes or incentives designed to limit milk production. [5546/95]

Ireland's national milk quota was originally allocated to producers on the basis of their actual deliveries in 1983. While provision was made under EC Regulations for producers who had participated in EU non-marketing of milk schemes, i.e. Mulder producers, no provision was made, either at that time or subsequently, for those producers referred to by the Deputy.
