Vol. 450 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pension Arrears Payments.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

191 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Marine the reason his Department refused to pay the increase in pension and arrears agreed by the Drogheda Harbour Commissioners to the next-of-kin of a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5380/95]

As my predecessor indicated to the Deputy last June, Drogheda Harbour Commissioners are responsible for the pension arrangements of their employees.

My Department have advised the Commissioners that it is a matter for them to provide, by scheme submitted for my confirmation, for pensions or improvements in pensions for former employees or their spouses and children.
No such scheme has been submitted to date.
