Vol. 450 No. 6

Written Answers. - INTERREG Programme.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

88 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the names of all projects which will be funded by his Department and the Arts Council under INTERREG; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5538/95]

A sum of £3.28 million has been allocated to me under the Ireland-Northern Ireland INTERREG Programme, and moneys, the amount of which have not yet been decided, will also be allocated to me under the Ireland-Wales INTERREG Programme, for natural-cultural tourism-related expenditure in my Department's area of responsibility. The arts council has no function in relation to the disbursement of INTERREG funds.

I am committed to providing financial assistance from the Ireland-Northern Ireland INTERREG Programme towards the Hawkswell Theatre project in County Sligo. No decisions have been made as to which other projects will receive assistance under this programme or under the Ireland-Wales INTERREG Programme. My Department is preparing a list of eligible projects at present and I will be making an announcement in due course.
