Vol. 450 No. 8

Written Answers. - EU-Funded Bodies.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

157 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Justice the bodies under the aegis of her Department supported by Structural Funds of the European Union. [5904/95]

Two probation projects are in receipt of funding under the European Union's Structural Fund allocation for innovatory action projects. They are the north Clondalkin Project, Dublin and the Terranova Project, Tuam, County Galway. European Union grants of 75 per cent of total costs — amounting for 1994-95 to £307,000 for the north Clondalkin Project and £158,250 for the Terranova Project, Tuam — have been approved. My Department is providing the balance of the funding for both projects.

In addition, the WAGE — Women Aspiring to Greater Enterprise — project has been 65 per cent funded under the European Union NOW — New Opportunities for Women — initiative. For 1993 and 1994 EU grants amounting to £38,526 have been approved. The balance of the funding is being provided by my Department.

There is also European Union support for the training of ex-offenders under the European Social Fund. This training takes place at the Training Unit. Glengarriff Parade, Dublin 7. It is estimated that £105,000 will be received from the fund in 1995.
