Vol. 450 No. 8

Written Answers. - Export Credit Insurance.

Ivor Callely

Question:

180 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade his policy on export credit insurance; the value of insurance at present afforded; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5827/95]

My policy with regard to the State export credit insurance scheme is that it should be operated in such a way that while assisting the development of exports, due account is taken of the need to protect the interests of the taxpayer.

The value of insurance at present afforded to exporters is £21.4 million. This represents the current liability under the State scheme.
