Question:

198 Mr. P. Gallagher (Donegal South West) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the functions delegated to each Minister of State at his Department; and the date on which the functions were delegated in each case. [5821/95]

The following areas of responsibilities and related functions have been delegated to the Minister of State at my Department: rural development, including the Leader programme; farm investment schemes; rural enterprise protection scheme and farm retirement scheme; premium and headage payments; land policy; disease eradication programme; animal health and welfare and plant health; livestock breeding (excluding horses and greyhounds); horticulture and organic farming and monitoring the food sub-programme. EU aspects of the above will remain my responsibility, as will the overall development of the food industry.

These functions were delegated to the Minister of State on 23 January 1995.
