Deputy Avril Doyle was appointed Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, the Department of Finance and the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications on 27 January 1995. She has responsibility for the strategic management initiative in the public service and for ensuring that the interests of the consumer are paramount in all dealings with public services and all State companies, including consumer guarantee programmes in the wider public service. She will also chair the interdepartmental committee to co-ordinate the commemoration of the Famine.
