Vol. 450 No. 8

Written Answers. - Long-Stay Units.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

79 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Health when his Department's survey of long-stay units for each of the years 1991 to 1994 will be available. [6015/95]

Limerick East): The reports on long-stay units for 1993 and 1994 will be available later this year. These reports will be based on a new data collection system introduced in 1993 to update information requirements in the context of the Health (Nursing Homes) Act, 1990, and to address existing problems of low response rates and poor data quality. While considerable efforts have been made to obtain data for 1991 and 1992 in the new format, it is unlikely at this stage that sufficient coverage will be achieved to justify publication.
