10 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Defence the strength of the Permanent Defence Force on 1 February 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6587/95]

On 1 February 1995 the Permanent Defence Force had a strength of 12,906 personnel, comprising 1,552 officers, 4,987 NCOs, 6,302 privates and 65 cadets. The strength of the force is kept under constant review in the light of operational requirements.
