Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputies Hugh Byrne and Kenneally— the dangers and fatalities arising from leisure crafting in Waterford Harbour; and the need for restrictions in the interest of public safety; (2) Deputy Shortall — the need for a high-level co-ordinated response to the drugs problem in Dublin; (3) Deputy Batt O'Keeffe — the need to reimburse the Southern Health Board for the introduction of a new waste plan; and the implications of the cost of the plan, which is in excess of £1 million, for the provision of essential hospital services; (4) Deputy Eric Byrne — the urgent need to provide access to a methadone maintenance programme in all prisons and to enable drug abusers to continue the programme in the community following their release from prison; (5) Deputy Lynch — the need for school principals to be required to notify school attendance officers on a monthly basis of any suspensions or expulsions made and to expand the school attendance service nationally; (6) Deputy Quill — the need to consider the establishment of a drop-in information centre in Cork, similar in scope and function to ENFO in Dublin; (7) Deputy Joe Walsh — the recent closure of the Customs office in Castletownbere, County Cork; (8) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the need to upgrade and develop Mallow race-course; (9) Deputy O'Dea — the urgent need to improve services for cancer patients; (10) Deputy O'Hanlon — the need for a more clearly defined role for IDA Ireland and Forbairt in promoting links between indigenous and foreign industry, particularly in preparation for the Washington Conference; (11) Deputy O'Malley — the £75 million disallowance proposed by the EU Commission for breaches of the beef intervention regulations in Ireland in 1990 and 1991; (12) Deputy Flanagan — the status of a teacher in County Offaly and the position of Offaly Vocational Education Committee in the matter and (13) Deputy Michael Kitt — the need to put pressure on both the EU and the UN to provide assistance in Burundi.

The matters raised by Deputies Joe Walsh; O'Hanlon; O'Malley and Hugh Byrne and Kenneally have been selected for discussion.
