Written Answers. - Pilot Scheme for Urban Renewal of Seaside Resorts.
As I announced in my budget speech, a new renewal scheme for traditional seaside resorts has been introduced on a pilot basis with effect from 1 July 1995 for a three year period. The purpose of the scheme is to renew and update the tourist amenities and facilities in a certain limited number of seaside resorts.
I would stress that this new initiative is a pilot scheme and is thus of a trial or experimental nature. It must therefore be applied on a limited basis in order to evaluate it efficacy. For these reasons, it is therefore not intended to extend the scheme to Dun Laoghaire.
