Vol. 451 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Transport.

John Ellis

Question:

89 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made to have school transport restored to Hollymount/Ballintrillick national school for a family (details supplied) in County Sligo. [7092/95]

The service in question was terminated after Easter, 1994, when the number of eligible children being conveyed had fallen to five. Under the school transport scheme, an average daily minimum of seven pupils would have been required to maintain this service.

I understand that the number of eligible pupils eligible to travel on the route has since increased by one. However, the position remains that the minimum number required has not been met.

It will not be open to my Department to reinstate this particular service until such time as seven eligible pupils present for transport.
