With the accession of Finland and Sweden to the European Union any remaining trade barriers have gone and this presents opportunities for Irish companies. An Bord Tráchtála is targeting five sectors in the Nordic area during 1995. These are mining, through a group visit to the mining region of north Sweden; pharmaceuticals, arising from the liberalisation of access; fashion, Irish companies participated in a fashion fair in Stockholm in February; aquaculture and EU funded consultancy joint ventures. In addition a market study group will visit Finland in November.
