Tony Gregory

Question:

204 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the consultant toxicologists commissioned by his Department to study the causes of the deaths of livestock in County Limerick. [8682/95]

A consultant toxicologist, who is Head of the Toxicology and Nutrition Unit of the Central Veterinary Laboratory in Weybridge, UK, has been engaged by the Environmental Protection Agency to assist with the investigation into the cause of cattle deaths in Askeaton, County Limerick. Following a visit to the area he advised a joint meeting of the four working groups established in the matter on their study programmes. In addition contacts have been made with two environmental toxicologists attached to the US Environmental Protection Agency in Denver who will be available to visit Askeaton and give advice if considered necessary.
