Vol. 453 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

87 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a grant will be paid to a person (detailed supplied) in County Galway. [8992/95]

Under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers an applicant must have a farm with a labour requirement of at least 0.5 man work units — MWU — to be "set up" as a full time farmer and attain 1 MWU within two year of setting up. An assessment of the man work units in this case has established that holding has a labour requirement of less than 0.5 MWU. As the applicant does not satisfy the MWU requirements he is not eligible for the purposes of the scheme at this stage. His Teagasc adviser will be in contact with him regarding his application.
