Vol. 453 No. 3

Written Answers. - Provision for Disabled Students.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

130 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education if she will give details of the special provision she has made for students with various types of disability who are sitting State examinations; and the way in which parents or students can avail of such special provision. [9248/95]

The special arrangements available for candidates with disabilities and the methods for availing of these arrangements were notified to schools in circular letter S.40/94 issued on 1 November 1994. The circular also explains the purpose of the special arrangements and provides for much earlier application to my Department than has been the case hitherto. It also introduces a formal appeal system. Circular S.14/95, issued to schools on 31 January 1995, outlines further details of the appeal arrangements. Additional copies of these circulars were sent to schools for the information of parents and teachers. I understand copies of the above circulars have been posted to the Deputy for her information.
