A Government decision to create a semi-State company to manage Land Registry and Registry of Deeds was taken on 27 September, 1990. My Department has commenced preparation for the drafting of the General Scheme of a Bill necessary for the proposed conversion of the Land Registry and the Registry of Deeds to semi-State status. I hope to be in a position to circulate a draft General Scheme of the Bill to other Government Departments later this year.
