Vol. 453 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Resource Centre.

Tony Gregory

Question:

164 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has received an application from the Cherry Orchard Family Resource Centre, Dublin 10, for grant assistance to build an extension to their centre; and his response to the request in view of the increasing numbers attending the centre and the many social problems in this disadvantaged community. [9363/95]

An application under the scheme of grants for voluntary organisations for grant assistance towards the cost of building an extension to, and reinforcing the roof at, the Cherry Orchard Family Resource Centre was received by my Department at the end of April 1995 and acknowledged by letter on 8 May 1995.

The number of applications received to date under the scheme is almost 1,000. These applications are currently being processed and assessed in my Department. I am sure the Deputy will appreciate that with such a large number of applications it will take some more time to complete these assessments. The family resource centre will be informed of the outcome of their application as soon as a decision is made.
