Vol. 453 No. 3

Written Answers. - Collins Barracks Football Pitch.

Tony Gregory

Question:

181 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Defence if the Office of Public Works now has charge of the park area used as a football pitch by members of the Defence Forces who were based at Collins Barracks, Wolfe Tone Quay, Dublin 1; and if it will be made available to local football clubs. [9351/95]

The area in question known as the Esplanade, which contains a playing area, is unlikely to be transferred to the Office of Public Works until late 1996.

While the playing area referred to is still subject to very substantial use by the military, it may be possible to provide local football clubs limited use under certain conditions. The Department will, in the meantime, consider applications for such use.
