Vol. 453 No. 3

Written Answers. - Official Receptions.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

27 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of official receptions hosted since the change of Government on 15 December 1994; the number planned for the remainder of 1995; the events or meetings these receptions mark; and the number and purpose of such receptions during 1994. [7957/95]

I and the Ministers of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs have hosted a total of 41 official receptions and other functions such as lunches since 15 December 1994. Counting on a similar basis, there were some 73 official receptions and other functions in 1994.

At the moment there are plans for the Ministers of State and myself to host 7 official functions during the remainder of 1995. The actual number will probably be greater than this in the event since there are likely to be a substantially greater number of official visits between now and the end of the year than we can foresee at present.
Since the details of the individual functions are voluminous I propose to circulate them in tabular form in the Official Report.
