Vol. 453 No. 3

Written Answers. - Immigrant Visa Lottery.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

61 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if his attention has been drawn to the fact that advertisements for the immigrant visa lottery are being placed in provincial papers even though the closing date for the scheme was 1 March 1995 and the action, if any, be proposes to take in this matter. [9315/95]

As I indicated in the Dáil on 4 April 1995, I share the Deputy's concern that applicants for US immigrant visas should not be misled by any inaccurate advertising.

I am not aware of the advertisements to which the Deputy refers but I would strongly encourage him to bring any advertisements he considers misleading to the attention of the Advertising Standards Authority which is the appropriate body to take action in such matters.
