Vol. 453 No. 3

Written Answers. - Appointment of Vocational Education Committee Teachers.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

115 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education whether she has studied the form medical examiners' report female V62 which women candidates for certain appointments under Vocational Educational Committees are required to complete and return; whether a comparable form for males exists; the reason such a sexist and outdated form is still in use in the current school year; and whether she will order the immediate discontinuation of this form's use and replace it with a more modern and less offensive format. [9190/95]

Up to now, two separate forms were being used by medical examiners in connection with the appointment of female and male teachers to vocational education committees. These forms have been in existence for many years and have not been reviewed until recently. My Department is consulting with the Chief Medical Officer and will be circulating a new composite form to vocational education committees shortly.
