Vol. 453 No. 7

Written Answers. - Production Costs.

Síle de Valera

Question:

53 Miss de Valera asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the cost of the design, production, printing, distribution and other expenses of the Awareness and Action for Nature Conservation, Diary of Events, February to May 1995. [9824/95]

The cost of producing the European Nature Conservation Year 1995 — ENCY '95 — programme of events, February to May, including typesetting, layout, design and film separations was £3,898. The printing was done in conjunction with the Department of Environment Environmental Bulletin, issue 25, published at the end of February last. The cost of printing 14,000 copies of the programme was £2,631. The cost of producing and publishing the programme was 47 pence per unit.

Seven thousand — 50 per cent — of the print run was distributed by the Department of the Environment with the Environmental Bulletin. The remaining 7,000 were distributed on an ongoing basis over a three month period usually with other ENCY '95 documentation, press releases and general mail shots. The Deputy will appreciate, therefore, that it would not be possible to give an accurate costing of this distribution.
