Vol. 453 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Caretaking and Secretarial Assistance.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

93 Ms F. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education the plans, if any, she has to utilise the £400,000 allocated for secretarial assistance and caretaking in schools in this year's budget. [9976/95]

I understand the Deputy refers to the total extra provision of £3.6 million made available this year for the expansion of caretaking and clerical services in primary and post-primary schools; £1.5 million for the primary school scheme and £2.1 million for the second level scheme.

Details of the expansion of the scheme for the current year are under active consideration within my Department. I hope to be in a position to announce the details of this expansion shortly.
